With all of the major end of year sales now far behind us, it may not feel like the best time to buy a new laptop. But, if needs must, or you're keen to secure an upgrade before RAM and storage prices spike even higher, I've found a handful of strong laptop deals in the US and UK to suit a variety of budgets and needs.
My top picks from the latest sales include everything from cheap Chromebooks starting at as little as $119/£299.99, up to high-end models from the likes of Apple, Microsoft, and Samsung that are packed with high-performance components and designed with premium users in mind.
This week's best laptop deals in the US
Lenovo IdeaPad 3i Chromebook: was US$249 now US$119 at Best BuyRead moreRead less▼Display - 15.6 inchesProcessor - Intel CeleronRAM - 4GBStorage - 64GB
This Lenovo IdeaPad 3i Chromebook is a basic device, but it's cheap, making it a great buy for very light use, such as general browsing and schoolwork. It also boasts full-day battery life thanks to the lean but perfectly functional Chrome OS from Google, meaning it's best suited for students or those always on the move. If you have around $150 to spend and need a cheap laptop and don't mind an older model, then you won't find a better option right now.

One of the best cheap laptops in Best Buy's latest sale is this Dell Laptop 15 with an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM and a surprisingly large 512GB SSD that all work together to ensure good overall performance and enough essential speedy storage for the price. This is a great low price for this configuration, so I recommend it now if you're on a budget and need a basic laptop for general everyday use, admin tasks, light work, or schoolwork.

There's a big $370 saving on this Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 at Best Buy. It has some older components, but with an AMD Ryzen 7 CPU, 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD, you have enough power and storage space for everyday jobs. It's a top buy right now if you have a reasonable budget and need a strong mid-range laptop for general use, admin tasks, light work, or schoolwork.

HP 15 Laptop: was US$799.99 now US$549.99 at Best BuyRead moreRead less▼Display - 15.6 inchesProcessor - Intel Core i7RAM - 16GBStorage - 512GB
This HP laptop stands out from all of the current offers at Best Buy as it's a solid mid-range device at a reasonable price. That's mainly thanks to the Intel Core i7 processor and 16GB of RAM, which are a good pairing for most everyday work tasks and general use. I'm a little disappointed with the 512GB of storage, but I guess it's enough for essential files and applications. Overall, this is still a good middle-of-the-road laptop, though I'd upgrade to the Dell below if you have the budget for it.

Apple MacBook Air 13-inch (M4): was US$999 now US$799 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼Display - 13.6 inchesProcessor - Apple M4RAM - 16GBStorage - 256GB
The MacBook Air 13-inch (M4) is the newest version of Apple's popular laptop and it's now back down to a record-low price at Amazon. You get a great-looking 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display, while the boost to 16GB of RAM keeps all your programs running smoothly. It's just a shame Apple still insists on only 256GB of storage as standard, which feels a little miserly in 2025. Nevertheless, this is still one of the best laptops you can buy if you need a performance powerhouse for productivity and creative tasks – especially after this $200 discount.

The Microsoft Surface Pro is a 2-in-1 laptop that doubles up as a tablet to be a flexible and versatile machine for everyday use, work and all of your productivity needs. This is the best version of the Surface Pro yet, based on our testing, with its powerful Snapdragon X Plus processor and lengthy battery life. This is a good offer for a premium laptop for anyone looking for a productivity boost or a more portable laptop with fantastic performance – especially now you get a keyboard cover included for free.

This version of the Asus Chromebook Plus offers an impressive amount of power for the price. It includes 8GB of RAM and an Intel Core i3 processor, boosting performance, boot times and load times. There's also a decent 256GB of storage for the price, and battery life is excellent at up to 12 hours on a single charge. That's more than enough to last a full working day. At a little under £300, it's a smart buy for school or college, or just as a home laptop that you use for light use and everyday tasks.

HP 15 Laptop: was £629.99 now £449.99 at AmazonRead moreRead less▼Display - 15.6 inchesProcessor - Intel Core Ultra 5RAM - 16GBStorage - 512GB
I quite like this modern version of the HP 15 Laptop, if you have a healthy budget to spend on a mid-range device. You get a modern Intel Core Ultra 5 processor and 16GB of RAM, which will comfortably handle everyday use and office jobs. Storage feels a little stingy at 512GB, but it's still a decent amount for all the essentials. Meanwhile, a clear IPS display, an in-built camera, and battery life of up to 10 hours make it ideal as a work laptop.

This is a great price for a relatively modern laptop that comes with a well-performing and efficient Snapdragon X CPU. On top of that, you get 16GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD, and incredible battery life of up to 28 hours, which represents good value for money overall. I like it as a light, portable and capable all-around everyday machine.

Dell 15 Laptop: was £629 now £499 at Dell Technologies UKRead moreRead less▼Display - 15.6 inchesProcessor - Intel Core i7RAM - 16GBStorage - 1TB
It features some older components, but I rate this Dell 15 Laptop highly in terms of power and value for money. For £500, you get a powerful machine with an Intel i7 processor, 16GB of RAM and a large 1TB SSD. Generally speaking, the specs here are more than adequate for everyday use and general work needs, but it will struggle with demanding multitasking, coding, and photo or video editing.
