With all of the major end of year sales now far behind us, it may not feel like the best time to buy a new laptop. But, if needs must, or you're keen to secure an upgrade before RAM and storage prices spike even higher, I've found a handful of strong laptop deals in the US and UK to suit a variety of budgets and needs.

My top picks from the latest sales include everything from cheap Chromebooks starting at as little as $119/£299.99, up to high-end models from the likes of Apple, Microsoft, and Samsung that are packed with high-performance components and designed with premium users in mind.

Whichever side of the scale you sit, you should be able to find a suitable laptop here. I've highlighted only the offers that I believe are worth buying, using my years of experience hunting down the best laptop deals for TechRadar, as well as the expertise of the wider computing team, who have tested and recommend most, if not all, of these devices.

The standout for me in the US is this HP OmniBook X Flip at Best Buy for $549.99 (was $849.99), as it offers a powerful and flexible device for the price that's ideal for all-around use.

Meanwhile, in the UK, my favorite deal is this HP Laptop 15 at Amazon for £449.99 (was £629.99). It's another well-built and capable mid-range option with a specification best-suited to comfortably handle general everyday use and office work.

It also boasts full-day battery life thanks to the lean but perfectly functional Chrome OS from Google, meaning it's best suited for students or those always on the move. If you have around $150 to spend and need a cheap laptop and don't mind an older model, then you won't find a better option right now.

One of the best cheap laptops in Best Buy's latest sale is this Dell Laptop 15 with an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM and a surprisingly large 512GB SSD that all work together to ensure good overall performance and enough essential speedy storage for the price. This is a great low price for this configuration, so I recommend it now if you're on a budget and need a basic laptop for general everyday use, admin tasks, light work, or schoolwork.

There's a big $370 saving on this Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 at Best Buy. It has some older components, but with an AMD Ryzen 7 CPU, 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD, you have enough power and storage space for everyday jobs. It's a top buy right now if you have a reasonable budget and need a strong mid-range laptop for general use, admin tasks, light work, or schoolwork.

This HP laptop stands out from all of the current offers at Best Buy as it's a solid mid-range device at a reasonable price. That's mainly thanks to the Intel Core i7 processor and 16GB of RAM, which are a good pairing for most everyday work tasks and general use. I'm a little disappointed with the 512GB of storage, but I guess it's enough for essential files and applications. Overall, this is still a good middle-of-the-road laptop, though I'd upgrade to the Dell below if you have the budget for it.

At a little under £300, it's a smart buy for school or college, or just as a home laptop that you use for light use and everyday tasks.

Storage feels a little stingy at 512GB, but it's still a decent amount for all the essentials. Meanwhile, a clear IPS display, an in-built camera, and battery life of up to 10 hours make it ideal as a work laptop.
