The documentary will focus on McCartney’s life post-Beatles, where he formed the band Wings alongside wife Linda. The film is set to be released on February 27 on Prime Video via Amazon MGM Studios.

In the trailer, McCartney details his feelings following his split from The Beatles in 1970, remarking: “I fell very depressed, but I was very lucky, because I had Linda”.

The trailer also shows the journey of Wings from their rocky start with debut album ‘Wild Life’ to their acclaimed third album, ‘Band On The Run’. Intimate behind-the-scenes footage of Wings touring, along with other rare, unreleased footage and music, will be featured in the documentary.

McCartney also discusses his deteriorating relationship with ex-bandmate John Lennon in the documentary: “We’d had arguments and all of that, but we’d loved each other all our lives”.

Last year, McCartney released the book Wings: The Story Of A Band On The Run. The book is an oral history that explores the impact of the band across their albums and follows various incarnations of the line-up through their career.

Over 100 photographs are featured in Wings: The Story Of A Band On The Run – many of which have never been seen before.

The book also saw McCartney discuss rumours he had died following his Beatles split, and sharing an anecdote about sending baby poo to a lying music journalist after a bad review.

Speaking about the book, McCartney said he was “so very happy to be transported back to the time that was Wings and relive some of our madcap adventures through this book.”

“Starting from scratch after The Beatles felt crazy at times,” he added. “There were some very difficult moments and I often questioned my decision. But as we got better I thought, ‘OK this is really good’. We proved Wings could be a really good band. To play to huge audiences in the same way The Beatles had and have an impact in a different way. It was a huge buzz.”

Meanwhile, Wings released the documentary One Hand Clapping, as well as its accompanying 1974 live-in-studio album, in 2024.

That same year, the band also shared a five-decade edition of their 1973 third album, ‘Band On The Run’.

Elsewhere, Paul Mescal has said fans “will benefit from knowing as little as possible” ahead of new Beatles biopics.
